NIBULON demonstrates high indices of a yield amount annually. The quality of cultivated products meets the strictest requirements of not only Ukrainian but also foreign consumers. In order to provide a high level of a crop yield, annually NIBULON sows demonstration fields to discover the most profitable sorts of different crops that ensure a high level of a yield. This year was not an exception. At the RE “Lidiyivs’ke” branch, for the second time, NIBULON creates the demonstration field where different sorts of sorghum are grown. By the way, convenient roadside location of NIBULON’s land plot allows to monitor changes which appear during the crop’s growth. The main goal of such a land plot creation is to ensure correct selection of hybrids and sorts of the given crop adapted to the South region conditions the most. In order to test the crop, on May 19, 2012 there were planted 15 hybrids of white and red sorghum produced by Alta Seeds, Euralis Semences Ukraine, Pioneer Ukraine, SE Raelin. The sown area is 14.4 ha. On October 23, 2012 there was held crop harvesting on the demonstration field. According to the harvesting results, above 55 tons of high quality grain were threshed. The vegetation period of different hybrids is the following: Arlys – 100-110 days, W 20 – 110-115 days, Dash E – 115-120 days, Fulcus – 120-140 days, Sprynt – 125-135 days, Arakan – 180 days. The average yield of crops is 38.7 dt/ha. The highest yield was demonstrated by the following hybrids of red sorghum: Dash E – 43.8 dt/ha, Prime – 46.6 dt/ha, Arakan – 46.9 td/ha, Solarius  – 46.9 dt/ha, W 20 – 45.8 dt/ha, 743 – 42.6 td/ha. High results of sorghum harvesting proved that despite this year’s extreme weather conditions, this crop has a stable yield and takes the first place in drought resistance and salt-tolerance taking into account severe soil and climatic conditions of the South region. The following example testifies in support of it: if these demonstration fields were sown with spring barley, thus, taking into account weather conditions of the region, the average crop yield would be 10 dt/ha and that is almost 4 times less than a sorghum yield. According to the specialists of NIBULON’s production department, this year the hybrids of red and white sorghum have demonstrated the best drought resistance that had an effect on a crop yield. The results of sorghum harvesting will adjust qualitatively (from purchase amount to hybrid and producer) this year’s purchase of seed grain by NIBULON having increased its efficiency considerably.
