Press Release: A solemn signing of a loan agreement between “NIBULON” and European Bank for Reconstruction and Development at a cost of USD 50 million

On the 17th of June, 2010 in Kyiv city solemn signing of the loan agreement between “NIBULON” and European Bank for Reconstruction and Development at a cost of USD 50 millionto finance the investment project of the company to develop grain market infrastructure of Dnipro basin will be held. Loan agreement involves financing of the construction costs of five elevators and transshipment terminals in Dnipropetrovs’k and Zaporizhzhya regions (total storage of 300 thousand tons), construction of 12 self-propelled vessels and six tugs. It is expected that the effect of reduction of logistics during the implementation of investment project will increase the profitability of agricultural enterprises by UAH 4 billion per year. According to General Director of “NIBULON”, Hero of Ukraine Oleksiy Vadaturskyy, development of agrologistycs in Ukraine will bring local agrarians, who are located far from ports, to international markets and will increase competitiveness of Ukrainian agricultural products not only in the world but also in domestic markets. The cost of the investment program in the coming years is USD 470 million. For the first time in Ukraine the construction of own fleet of agricultural company is stipulated, which includes 57 self-propelled and non-self-propelled vessels, 14 river and sea tugs, 17 elevators, 10 of which are river terminals along the Dnipro river, the Southern Bug river and other rivers. Implementation of the investment project is in a full swing. As of today24non-self-propelled vesselsand three tugs were constructed and successfully operate now, two elevator complexes (Poltava region) and two transshipment terminals (Cherkasy and Zaporizhzhya regions).By the 1st of July, 2010 transshipment terminal in Gradyz’k town of Globyno district and elevator in Artemivka village, Chutоvo district, of Poltava region will be put into operation. In July 2010 the construction of two more terminals in Kremenchuk and Maryanivka (Poltava region) will be started. Thus, during the project implementation by the 1st of July, 2011 the total volume of elevator capacities will be brought up to 2 million tons. This will allow the company to conduct its activity in the grain market regardless of elevator capacities of other owners and will provide quantitative and qualitative indicators of agricultural products. Internal information base on the availability of grain (grain bank) on the scale of an enterprise will become possible to create, that will allow enacting grain supplies of food standards. This will ensure the competitiveness of Ukrainian agricultural products in the international market and certainly will enhance the image of Ukraine as a country that supplies grain of food condition that meets the requirements of international standards to markets. Worldwidewater transport is considered to be the most economical. Ukraine has serious navigational potential, but unfortunately, freight by rivers practically does not enact. The investment project will become an impetus for the optimization of agricultural logistics in Ukraine. Implementation of the project will “employ” the Dnipro river and provide enlargement of river freight volumes – up to 2 million tons, along the Southern Bug river – 1 million tons. Investment project of “NIBULON” is supported by regions of Ukraine and deserves approval at the highest state level. Despite the global financial crisis, the project today receives support from the World Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Export Credit fund EKF (Denmark), Export credit agency Atradius (the Netherlands), the leading European banks, the State Export Import Bank of Ukraine and other banks. The total loan amount of financial institutions and prime banks of Switzerland, France and others is more than USD 200 million. The project is a unique example of complex program of system development of business and has positive effect for many sectors of Ukrainian economy: agriculture, transport, shipbuilding, construction, energy, metallurgy. Today investment activity of “NIBULON” is a kind of “litmus test” for foreign investors, a symbol of the fact that money can be invested into Ukraine and large-scale investment projects can successfully be implemented.
