The launching was conducted during an ordinary working day, as the shipbuilders continue to build the second vessel of this project. The vessel’s godmother, Olena Korneeva working, a crane operator, traditionally broke the Champagne bottles on the vessel’s hull.B5000M project vessels are modernized non-self-propelled vessels which have been improved by shipbuilders and specialists from NIBULON’s shipping company, based on experience gained in operating earlier vessels on Ukrainian rivers as well as navigation experience in the U.S. and Europe. The vessel’s updated design for greater maneuverability, plus its cargo capacity of 5,000 tons, enable the company to increase volumes of grain transportation and export figures efficiently. By putting these vessels into operation, NIBULON’s fleet can efficiently transport larger cargo batches from the company’s transshipment terminals located along the rivers and in Mykolaiv to the outer roads, as well as increase river transportation and transshipment volumes. These two 100-m vessels will transport up to 10,000 tons of grain per each cargo trip, which is equivalent to the load transported by 416 trucks simultaneously. In the 2020/21 marketing year, the company transported 4.3 million tons of cargoes by the Dnipro and the Southern Bug. Thus, the equivalent of about 180 thousand trucks was removed from Ukrainian highways. The vessel’s technical characteristics are as follows: length – 101 m and breadth – 17 m, draught – 3.75 m, 2 holds with the total capacity of 7,000 m3 and a cargo capacity of 5,000 tons. The vessel’s navigation area is mixed (river-sea).The shipbuilders will soon mount coamings, hatch covers and deck gears on the vessel. Once all the works are finished, the vessel will be delivered to NIBULON’s shipping company. By putting this vessel into operation, the company’s fleet will number 83 modern vessels used for various operations at any time of the year.
