New Year’s Eve – it is time to think about eternal and transient, universal and extremely private things. It is an opportunity for everyone to sum up things obtained, to aim at new results, to define important things and secondary ones.
For most Ukrainians church is the best place to think. Faith united our nation for centuries, gave us strength and hope for better future. And now it remains a basis for reconstruction of a strong country.
On December 28 NIBULON’s staff visited the Cathedral of Kasperovska Icon of the Mother of God located in Sadova Street. By the way, the day before Mykolayiv Cathedral received the Bethlehem Fire of Peace.
The Cathedral of Kasperovska Icon of the Mother of God, dedicated to one of the most esteemed wonder-working icon, is characterized by a complicated destiny. The Cathedral which protects our city more than a century was given to the shipyard to create a club here. The building was returned to the religious community only in the beginning of the 90s. In 1994-2004 the Cathedral exterior was reconstructed.
The Cathedral history is a significant evidence of spirit indestructibility and faith force. For our city the Cathedral of Kasperovska Icon of the Mother of God is a symbol of victory of eternal and spiritual things over trivial ones.
At present the Cathedral continues its revival. 2011-2012 became a new stage in the church life. For such a short period an inside view was completely changed: the gilded iconostasis was manufactured. The roof is being provided with heat insulation, heated floor is being installed, the church is being decorated with paintings, and there is performed beautification of the Cathedral territory. The total cost of works is UAH 1.4 mln. The assets were provided by NIBULON.
“This event unites us. Today all our staff visited the church, as every worker made a contribution to its restoration. It is our common merit”, said NIBULON’s General Director Oleksiy Vadaturskyy. “Church is a spirituality center. Every Mykolyiv citizen can come to the church, see its beauty and join all Ukrainians. In particular, it is topical now – on New Year’s Eve and Christmas Eve. I would like more our citizens to visit church because a person can become purer here, find strength and hope even if it seems the last hope disappears. I would like to wish us spirit indestructibility, will for victory, love and support from relatives and friends.”
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
