According to the ranking of corporate social responsibility (CSR) of Ukrainian rate magazine “GVardiya” “NIBULON” became the best among agricultural companies and the fifth in the commodity production sector. In the overall ranking of CSR “NIBULON” holds the 13th place among all Ukrainian companies.
It is not the first year when this ranking is composed on the basis of questionnaires filled out by participating companies, public social reporting and independent evaluations of experts. Specialists working in the field of CSR in public organizations, research agencies, specialized business associations, academic institutions and governmental agencies are included into the expert council of the ranking. In order to increase the objectivity of the ranking, relationship of experts and participants is excluded.
Authors of the ranking note that this year the number of participants has slightly decreased. Nevertheless, “NIBULON” observed consistently high positions in the ranking as well as the previous year.
Among the positive trends of this year, principally experts named desire of the companies to be more open – almost half the participants of the ranking (46% vs. 37% in 2010) provided information on dimensions of social investment, stating in detail the expenditures. The average percentage of social expenditures in relation to the size of net income of the companies in 2011 compiles 1.2%. “NIBULON” showed maximum result in this position – 4.8%, which is 4 times more than average performance!
In addition, “NIBULON” entered the first 12 companies with best practices in relation to product and consumer. Thus, during the implementation of the investment project on the revival of the Dnipro and the Southern Bug Rivers as shipping water ways, specialists of the company have completed drying equipment at the terminals and elevators to ensure the qualitative production process of drying according to international standards and requirements for the finished product. Technical solutions were implemented to improve uniform heating of grain and create a uniform thermal field at drying due to special mixing equipment – inverters. These events allowed “NIBULON” to increase productivity of drying equipment, to reduce time sanitization as well as consequently, energy costs.
Regarding the attitude to ecology, “NIBULON” also has become one of the best companies. In March 2010, “NIBULON” successfully passed the environmental audit that was conducted by Branan Environment (Moscow) at the request of the EBRD. According to the audit it was found that implementation of the investment project on the revival of the Dnipro and the Southern Bug Rivers as shipping water ways of Ukraine will not have any significant adverse impacts on the environment and the adverse socio-economic consequences.
In addition, in order to preserve the environment, in November 2010 “NIBULON” entered into an agreement to purchase over 19 tons of two years old silver carp of the total value UAH 345 636 to organize planting of fish of Kakhovs’kyy reservoir. A specially created committee of representatives of state fisheries agency, local administration, the Ministry of Environment Protection was keeping an eye out for the course of planting of fishing the Dnipro by “NIBULON”. Today, the company systematically introduces “NIBULON’s” standard of business conduction. “NIBULON” participates in many social projects. As a result of its charitable activity, the company spent more than UAH 11 million in 2010 only. “NIBULON” is one of a few companies in Ukraine which despite emerging obstacles in its way, does not lose the dignity and respects the principles of socially responsible business.
