The global financial crisis has destabilized nascent Ukrainian practice of corporate social responsibility (hereafter – CSR). Under these conditions, it is difficult to remain in positions of socially responsible companies even for the largest domestic enterprises. Thus, the results of the fifth anniversary ranking encourage and confirm that participating companies are the example of social responsibility of Ukrainian business and a symbol of strengthening the image of Ukraine and national companies in the international scene.
The companies included in the list of “GVardiya 500” were traditionally invited to participate in the ranking in 2012. “NIBULON” is distinguished by a stable top ranking along with the previous year.
The ranking was made on the ground of analysis of companies’ profiles, public social reporting, as well as independent assessments of experts – members of the advisory council. Methods of evaluation of the openness and companies’ activity level were discussed and corrected at the roundtable. According to experts’ recommendations, approach to the evaluation of social reports was revised, among others a block of evaluation of companies’ openness and consistency was introduced by CSR key directions.
An increasing of share upper limit of allocations for social investment to 10% has become a positive moment in the ranking. In 2012, more than half of the companies provided information about the size of social investments (59%) and indicated expenditures in detail. This proves an increase of businesses openness in the sphere. It should be mentioned that the number of companies that have social reports has significantly increased.
“NIBULON” entered the top ten of the companies in this ranking, taking the seventh place with a total score of 68.88 and leaving behind a number of large domestic enterprises.
During the evaluation process, a number of the company’s achievements in social and other fields were taken into account, in particular:
September 1, the next year in the row the presentation of new modern multimedia classes of “NIBULON” in 4 Mykolayiv schools was held; sponsored by the company regional schools received presents. Schools in Denyhivka village (Kyiv region) and Velyki Korovyntsi village got “a breath of new information technologies” as well as repaired school classrooms, school yards, adjacent to the schools territories, where on December 1 and November 15 solemn commissioning of modern elevator complexes was held. By the way, residents of Denyhivka village received a new stadium as a gift from the company.
April 15, 2011 “NIBULON” laid out a park of 700 young trees in Gradyz`k village (Poltava region) near the monument “To dead servicemen of World War II”, that is located in the center of the village.
From July 29 to 31, Grand Prix of Ukraine World Cup in class “Formula 1” on water was held in Vyshgorod town. “NIBULON” was a general partner and a sponsor of the event.
In November 2011, the EBRD recognized “NIBULON” as the winner of the Ukrainian Energy Efficiency Program (UKEEP) in the nomination “Project with the largest energy savings”.
In November 2011, the company received a gold award in the category “Best business for family” and a silver award in the category “Companies with over 1 000 employees”.
February 14, 2012 the reconstructed infancy department of Mykolayiv city children`s hospital № 2 was presented under the auspices of Mykolayiv mayor Volodymyr Chayka. The department was renovated and equipped with modern medical apparatus at the expense of “NIBULON” totaling UAH 445 thousand.
As a result of its charitable activity, the company spends more than UAH 15 million!
Overall, ranking results showed obvious improvements in Ukrainian business social responsibility sphere: they are directivity towards international standards and systematic approach to social investment and its volume, increasing total business efforts in human capital development, ecology conservancy etc. In particular, it proves that today “NIBULON” continues to implement systematic own corporate business standard and does not forget about the dignity and social responsibility.
