NIBULON, as a real patriot of its country, has directed its activities to develop inland waterways and to make Ukraine a powerful marine state. NIBULON is now renowned worldwide as a driving force behind the development of the domestic logistics.Certain responsible decisions, considerable investment and much time are required to achieve such an aim. In 2009, NIBULON implemented its global project to revive the Dnipro and the Southern Buh as transport arteries. Every year the company develops the high-capacity river and elevator infrastructure, builds a modern fleet, and revives the shipbuilding sector as well as navigation along shallow rivers by using its unique machinery built by itself. The company has invested more than USD 2.3 billion in Ukraine’s economy and has become a real leader in it. NIBULON’s logistics is perfectly organized, and all the company’s vessels operate efficiently. To redirect more cargo volumes to water transport, to reduce traffic load on highways and negative impact on the environment, the company has increased its fleet efficiency and navigates the Dnipro efficiently during the navigation period established by the state. Last year our fleet was the first to open a new navigation season along this river, having passed through the Kakhovka Navigation Lock. In 2021, as a result of the departments’ well-coordinated work, including the shipping company, NIBULON achieved a new monthly record for cargoes transported by rivers. In August, the company transported 267.9 thousand tons of cargoes along the Dnipro and 102.8 thousand tons along the Southern Buh. NIBULON transported 4.15 million tons of various products, which represents a new yearly record for cargoes transported by Ukrainian inland waterways. The company transported 3.44 million tons along the Dnipro and the Buh-Dnipro-Lyman Canal, and 709 thousand tons along the Southern Buh. NIBULON removed the equivalent of more than 172 thousand trucks from Ukrainian highways last year, as its water transport was used in place of trucks, having made 1,221 cargo trips. Please note that the company’s floating cranes set an absolute record, having shipped 3.8 million tons of products in the Mykolaiv Sea Commercial Port outer roads last year. The company does not stop at what has been accomplished and continues to search for non-standard useful decisions to develop Ukrainian navigation. Thus, in September 2021, NIBULON took a new step in transporting cargoes, which improves its logistics chain to transport cargoes by the Southern Buh and improves its environmental and infrastructure efficiency. 1 pusher tug, 4 non-self-propelled vessels and 1 harbor tug, instead of a usual pusher tug and 1-2 non-self-propelled vessels, made a cargo trip by the Mykolaiv-Nova Odesa route. Each trip ensures that more than 9 thousand tons of cargoes are transported by river, rather than 4 thousand tons transported by two non-self-propelled vessels. By using the modernized B5000M project vessels, the first vessel of which was launched at NIBULON shipbuilding and repair yard LLC, the company can double the volumes of cargoes transported in each cargo trip. Consequently, the equivalent of 750 trucks will not enter Mykolaiv moving to various transshipment terminals, as it will be logistically and economically efficient for them to be unloaded closer to the points of grain harvesting or storage in the direction of Nova Odesa and Voznesensk.Please note that the company was the first to revive navigation along the Southern Buh in 2015 and made a cargo trip to Voznesensk for the first time in a quarter century. About 60 thousand tons of grain were transported by this river earlier. In 2021, the company transported 709 thousand tons, which is 12 times more than the previous records. The company plans to transport 1 million tons of cargoes in 2022, including building materials from Voznesensk pits, so that trucks will not enter Mykolaiv. By using a considerable theoretical and practical experience in developing river infrastructure and navigation as well as deep knowledge of logistics arrangement, NIBULON protects the interests of Ukraine and the water transport national security at the national level, as the development of navigation requires proper legislation and the ability to solve many serious problems. Last year the company achieved a real breakthrough in a ten-year struggle to use all the effective volumes of the Dnipro Cascade lock gates and to improve the river transport competitiveness. Consequently, the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine initiated an experiment in which a tug and two non-self-propelled vessels passed through the lock simultaneously. The company and other carriers participated in it successfully. When analyzing all the results, the appropriate changes will be made in the Regulations on passage through the lock, thereby enabling carriers to save time and money which will be directed to the development of river transportation in the country. Since it commenced operations, NIBULON’s shipping company has transported 25 million tons of cargoes by Ukrainian rivers, thereby removing the equivalent of more than 1 million trucks from Ukrainian highways. NIBULON brought the volumes of cargoes transported by water to 70 % and confirms that the company’s global strategy works efficiently. We inspire other Ukrainian companies to redirect cargo flows to rivers. The number of NIBULON’s followers is increased annually.
