The main challenge for the agrarians was to undertake the sowing campaign within a short period of time. The prolonged spring with soil frost and low temperatures in some areas caused a delay of several weeks to conduct field works. Heavy precipitation in the third decade of May prevented NIBULON from the sowing campaign in all the regions across the country. Nature's challenges have been overcome by efficient process management, the company’s experience, and well-coordinated logistics. The use of up-to-date techniques to control sowing quality has enabled the company to perform works over several shifts, both at day and night. The timely recognition of problems contributed to the efficient planning of logistics to move the machinery among the regions using NIBULON’s own low loaders. At present the company has already completed the sowing campaign in the areas planned. NIBULON has sown spring crops on an area of almost 41.0 thousand ha in 2021. In particular, corn has been sown on an area of more than 16.1 thousand ha; sunflower on 22.5 thousand ha; sorghumon 1.2 thousand ha and soybean on1.2 thousand ha.The winter crop is in better condition than last year, which is connected with soil moisture and precipitation in the last decade of May. The next task is to conduct a range of measures to protect winter and spring crops. At present the agrarians continue the second application of plant protection means, in particular they apply fungicides to prevent plant diseases, as well as conduct foliar fertilization. The production facilities have started dragging by using a rotary machine and cultivating tilled crops.The agrarians continue to apply post-emergent herbicides on the areas sown with sunflower and corn. The weather conditions have considerably complicated the application of plant protection means in the company’s western cluster. The newly purchased Case Patriot 4430 self-propelled sprayer will enable the company to conduct crop care in time.The specialists from the company’s production department consider the yield potential of early crops to be higher than in the southern and separate central regions of the country. It is still early to forecast a yield of late crops, but there are prerequisites to harvest a high yield in the current season. The company has sown tilled crops within a short period of time; the moisture reserves in a meter soil layer are higher as opposed to previous years. The well-balanced temperature and water regimes at the beginning of plant vegetation, the development and further implementation of intense technologies by the company’s agrarians and the intensification of mineral fertilization systems lead to optimistic forecasts.
