European Bank for Reconstruction and Development is considering providing a loan of USD 50 million to “NIBULON”

EBRD is considering providing a loan of USD 50 million to “NIBULON”, a leading Ukrainian agricultural producer and grain trader, to develop grain infrastructure.   According to the bank, its board of directors plans to review the project on the 25th of May this year.              It is noted in the report that the total cost of the project, which is implemented by “NIBULON”, is USD 223.8 million. According to EBRD, it will result in a further development of grain infrastructure of the country, including the revival of transportation and grain infrastructure on the Dnipro river, will expand capacities for storage and handling of grain.   As it was reported, “NIBULON” has been implementing the project that involves putting into operation of eight elevators and river terminals, creation of a fleet that consists of 24 non-self-propelled vessels with total deadweight of more than 150 thousand tons and 14 tugs since 2009.   “NIBULON” was established in 1991. At the present time it includes 36 branches in eleven regions of Ukraine (Mykolayiv, Lugans’k, Vinnytsya, Khmel’nyts’kyy, Kharkiv, Poltava, Cherkasy, Sumy, Chernigiv, Zhytomyr, Zaporizhzhya regions) and a subsidiary enterprise in the Netherlands. In general, the company has elevator facilities with a total capacity of over 1 million tons, as well as own transshipment terminal in Mykolayiv.   According to the materials provided by Interfax-Ukraine     Reference: “NIBULON” began to develop its business in a very complicated period of Ukraine formation. The company has rubbed through many obstacles, attempts to interfere into its business activities etc. But despite this, management of “NIBULON” never deviated from their principles – openness, transparency and work in the legislative field only.   It is not an easy task to get a loan, especially in the conditions of financial and economic crisis, because every financial institution is ready to allocate money only to the companies that meet certain criteria. First of all it is financial stability of the company, its spotless credit history, the observance of all the terms of the loan by a company, its reputation in the market, the presence of positive results due to regular audits, investment attractiveness of a company, maintenance of activity without shadow schemes, both at internal and at external markets, etc. It is difficult but possible to meet such requirements in the conditions of Ukraine.   But, as you know, justice always prevails. Today it is obvious that such an approach of “NIBULON” was properly assessed and is being evaluated by the global financial system. Thus, in 1998 “NIBULON” received a credit of USD 5 million from the World Bank, it was the first time in Ukraine and in the agro-industrial complex of the country. It also happened in the conditions of financial crisis in 1998. Construction of the transshipment terminal in Mykolayiv (2003) was also carried out with the participation of financial institutions guaranteed by Danish and Canadian governments. In addition, at the same time, the company received a loan from German financial institutions guaranteed by the government of Germany. In times of financial crisis of 2009-2010 the company has received several significant loans. Export Credit Fund of Denmark guaranteed by the Danish Government has allocated USD 40 million on supply of technological equipment set for the facilities that are constructed within the investment project of the company. At the moment, the issue of allocation of funds for the construction of tugs by financial institutions of Holland guaranteed by the Netherlands Government is being solved. An additional point is that: in November 2009 – USD 10 million within the frames of a joint project of Ukreximbank and the World Bank for export development; in December 2009 –  USD 10 million in the context of the program of Ukreximbank and EBRD on energy efficiency of the Ukrainian enterprises. Thus, the company has consolidated the status of a leader in the agro-industrial sphere of Ukraine in the international arena. “NIBULON” shows how to attract investments in Ukraine in the conditions of financial world crisis.   The company is currently cooperating with EBRD to obtain loans for agricultural development.
