On February 23, 2013 in the regional Palace of Culture there was held a ceremony to congratulate the laureates of the 17th city program “Citizen of the Year – 2012”.
According to the expert inquiry of citizens who have achieved socially important occupational successes in 2012, there were selected winners in 18 main nominations who got the status “Citizen of the Year”.
Larysa Buryk, NIBULON’s deputy general director of personnel, has got the honorary status “Citizen of the Year” in the nomination “Charity”.
The winner in the given nomination was defined by 499 experts 256 of whom gave preference to her.
According to Larysa Buryk, she was surprised at reaching the final of the program “Citizen of the Year” in the nomination “Charity”. But then she realized there was nothing strange in it. Yes, she is neither an owner nor a finance director. But it was she who started to create NIBULON together with its unchallenged leader Oleksiy Vadaturskyy many years ago. Thus, however immodestly it sounds, there is a part of her services in NIBULON’s achievements including in charitable activities.
It is not a secret that NIBULON’s main priorities are education and medicine. There is a peculiarity in the company’s social projects – charitable and sponsorship activities have constant and complex character. According to NIBULON’s management, only this approach will bring deserved result and be of benefit to the society.
Implementing one of its social projects, the company has been contributing to education and medicine development for more than five years. Only in Mykolayiv city the company helps 3 hospitals (Mykolayiv emergency hospital, Mykolayiv regional hospital and Mykolayiv city children’s hospital) presenting modern medical equipment, new household appliances, new furniture. And NIBULON’s sponsored schools are among the best schools of the city by the technical equipment level and education quality, a lot of parents wish their children to study there. The company also supports higher educational institutions.
In whole, within Ukraine the company pays particular attention to the development of village social infrastructure. NIBULON invests funds in village kindergartens, schools, houses of culture, stadia, street lighting, water supply systems, modernization and construction of roads. For the last years there have been spent tens of millions of hryvnas for these purposes.
Speaking to the people, Larysa Buryk mentioned, “My victory has both good and bad sides at the same time. It is good because for the third time the city community acknowledges NIBULON’s services in charity field. And it is bad because Mykolayiv citizens do not see other companies which could help the society like we do: willingly, constantly, without any constraint.
Charity has always been NIBULON’s visit card – even in the first years of its existence when the company started to make its capital. During the early years NIBULON complied with almost all requests of the poor, people were given money readily. But then we were convinced of inefficiency of this help: sometimes money was spent in vain. Then it was decided to provide charity purposefully and constantly. Finally, the company has determined priorities of socially responsible business.
How does it happen in practice? A lot of people ask NIBULON’s management to assist in diagnostics, to pay for expensive operations including abroad. Enormous money is required. Isn’t it simpler to purchase necessary diagnostic and medical equipment for hospitals, besides, the qualification of our doctors is not at all worse than in the West? So we did what we had planned. At present each visitor of NIBULON’s sponsored hospitals can see that the company has spent money for good reason.
We would like to see other winners in the nomination “Charity” next year. It will mean that others follow our example!”
