At present NIBULON’s shipping company, in addition to transporting grain crops, efficiently transports other cargoes, in particular building materials, Kherson watermelons and melons, metal, large-sized cargoes, etc. For example, when the company constructed its new terminal in Dnipropetrovsk region, it transported piles, rock fines and sand intended for the construction using its new non-self-propelled B1500 project open type vessels built at NIBULON shipbuilding and repair yard. Since NIBULON’s shipping company started its operation in 2009, the company has removed the equivalent of more than 880 thousand trucks from Ukrainian highways, as NIBULON has transported more than 21 million tons of various cargoes by inland waterways.The company has managed to achieve high results by successfully implementing its large-scale investment program to develop the Dnipro and other rivers of Ukraine as navigable arteries, which it started in 2009. According to the company’s experts, the launching of the NIBULON MAX 140-m self-propelled floating crane and the putting into operation of two T410 project tugs, as well as the construction of two transshipment terminals, namely Ternivska branch in Zaporizhzhia region and Zelenodolska branch in Dnipropetrovsk region, has enabled to increase the volumes of cargo transported by river in 2020.NIBULON MAX operation positively influences the structure of the company’s cargo transportation and navigation development, as the floating vessel improves the entire fleet operation. During its first year of operation and despite the coronavirus crisis, the vessel has achieved high results in the agricultural commodity shipment for export – 2.5 million tons. By comparison, the company had used its three floating cranes simultaneously to handle the same volume of cargoes before it started operation. This is only the beginning for NIBULON MAX, as, according to the company’s specialists, its technical capabilities enable the company to increase the annual cargo volumes up to 4-5 million tons per year, transshipped by the company’s fleet. The company’s annual export volumes will be increased to 8 million tons of agricultural commodities annually.According to the company’s specialists, the small-sized and more maneuverable T410 project tugs have enabled the company to save fuel when making port operations, thereby releasing linear tugs which are now involved in making cargo trips. These tugs easily maneuver at the wharfs and in the outer roads of the river anchorage, participate in forming and preparing convoys of non-self-propelled vessels to be towed/pushed by high-capacity tugs, and are engaged in piloting NIBULON’s non-self-propelled vessels through the lock. Another company achievement is putting into operation of two high-capacity transshipment terminals for grain and oilseeds shipments in Ternivka village (Vilniansk district, Zaporizhzhia region) and in Marianske village (Apostolove district, Dnipropetrovsk region) during 2019-2020. In 2020, the company conducted the final stage of dredging of the access channel to Ternivska branch and on the Southern Buh, thereby enabling the company to increase the fleet cargo capacity on these inland waterways.NIBULON’s successful activity shows an important connection between the development of inland waterways and the competitiveness of the national economy on the global markets. The river resources are an important potential for our country, and the company does much to make them efficient.
