NIBULON transported the first batch of grain by its own hopper cars in summer 2019. At present, the company has already transported 500,000 tons of grain from branches to NIBULON’s transshipment terminal in Mykolaiv by its own railcar fleet. 108 new 19-6869 grain hopper cars, with the weight-carrying capacity of 70.5 tons and the cubic capacity of 120 cubic meters, produced by KARPATY Experimental Mechanical Plant, as well as two TGM 4 locomotives, enable the company to transport high volumes by rail.By using its modern elevator complexes and its transshipment terminal in Mykolaiv, the company ensures that the entire chain of loading/unloading operations is performed and can use the hopper cars efficiently. This optimization has also reduced NIBULON’s expenses by 30-40% when compared with using hopper cars rented from Ukrzaliznytsia, as the company’s hopper cars make 5-6 trips from central Ukraine to Mykolaiv every month. One of the main tasks to be performed by the company’s specialists is to efficiently combine the capabilities of each mode of transport to improve the logistics process and to reduce the prime cost of transportation as well as of loading and unloading operations. NIBULON’s many years of experience in managing the logistics infrastructure helps it to redirect cargo transportation efficiently from road to river and railway. The company annually improves the operational efficiency of both cargo and railcar fleet. Thus, 60% of cargoes are transported by water, 30%by railway, and only 10%by road, thereby contributing to the preservation of Ukrainian highways and environment of the country.
