As for most of Ukrainians, the events of February 24th, 2022 were a shock for Serhii Mazan.

Serhii finished Admiral Makarov National University of Shipbuilding, worked as shipbuilder, stevedore in Mykolaiv River Port. In 2014 come to NIBULON. He started as a specialist on freight operations, later was appointed as senior specialist of the contracts execution department of the central administrative office of NIBULON.

With beginning of the war, Serhii radically changed his activity area.

Here is what Serhii remembers about the beginning of the full-scale invasion:

«I could not even believe that the war began. First there was a feeling of rejection, that such a thing could happen in our time. When the first shock gone, I decided that I need urgently transport my wife, children and my mom to a safe place.

When relatives already moved from Ukraine, together with my friend, we went to the military commissariat. We did not even discuss this question. The decision to defend our country came by itself.

First, I was directed to the training center, where I received an accelerated course in basic knowledge about first aid and stabilization of injured. After that I came to the place of base location of the division. Received the rank of senior soldier».

Now Serhii is a sanitary instructor and defends Ukraine’s infrastructure. With the view of safety, we cannot tell about the place of his service. But till Serhii continues to keep his hard and extremely important business, the people of NIBULON are waiting for their colleague at home.
