2021 was the Best Year for Exports in NIBULON’s History

In 2021, NIBULON achieved its best monthly, quarterly, half-yearly and yearly results for shipping agricultural commodities. The company achieved record results in August – 700.9 thousand tons, the 4th quarter – 1.88 million tons, and the second half-year – 3.71 million tons. As a result of its well-coordinated work, the company shipped more than 5.64 million tons of agricultural commodities, which represents a new absolute record for a year. An important prerequisite to increase trading relations was record wheat, corn and barley yields in Ukraine in 2021; thus, the company focused on these crops, which comprise more than 90% of the total shipment volumes, the balance being composed of rapeseed, soybean, and sorghum. The company also increased its export directions last year. It shipped commodities to 38 countries. Please note that in 2020, the company traded with 32 countries, whereas in 2017 it was 23 countries. According to Dmytro Furda, NIBULON’s senior trader, China remains a key importer. NIBULON shipped about 1.5 million tons of corn and barley to this country. Egypt is ranked second, where the company shipped about 630 thousand tons of wheat and corn. Indonesia is ranked third, with a shipment volume of 615 thousand tons. In 2021, the company also opened new export directions, having supplied agricultural commodities to countries in Africa (Nigeria, Cameroon, Ghana) and Asia. Please also note that the company shipped wheat to 27 countries. In addition to the above-mentioned export directions, NIBULON shipped wheat to Mexico, Kenya, Oman, Tanzania, Uganda, Burundi which are unusual export directions for Ukraine. This is explained by the fact that NIBULON managed to ensure food security in these countries and to convince the importers that the quality of Ukrainian wheat from NIBULON is not inferior to that of its competitors from the USA, Argentina, or Australia, where the production of high-quality wheat has been complicated by adverse conditions. By developing the marine potential of our country, the company does not only redirect cargo flows to rivers, but also increases transshipment volumes in the outer roads. The share of NIBULON MAX and St. Mykolai operations in the outer roads comprises 67% of the company’s total exports in 2021, which represents another record. This is just the beginning, as the company can now ship up to 6 million tons of cargoes annually in the outer roads. All NIBULON’s results are unprecedented and demonstrate its sustainable development dynamics over its many years of activities. This success resulted from NIBULON’s long-term comprehensive investment program to revive the Dnipro and the Southern Buh as main transport arteries of Ukraine. To implement this program, NIBULON has invested more than USD 2.3 billion to develop the economy, having created a unique logistics infrastructure, as well as having revived navigation and shipbuilding. Due to the company, Ukraine is now renowned worldwide as a supplier of high-quality grain.NIBULON is a driving force behind the development of the Ukrainian economy, as our every achievement opens not only a new level of opportunities, but also creates a higher pace of development for other companies. We are now implementing a new strategy to achieve export shipments of more than 6.5 million tons of products. Thus, the unique infrastructure operates efficiently in 13 regions. It consists of high-tech river transshipment terminals, the potential of which is constantly increased by modernizing and improving facilities, production branches, as well as the most modern fleet of 80 vessels used for various operations.“As a result of our investment program, we provide farmers with the efficient storage of grain and oilseeds at the company’s elevators, followed by further agricultural commodity deliveries to a port to be then transshipped onto seagoing vessels. NIBULON is ready to provide the Ukrainian agri-industrial sector with export logistics capacities considering that the production volumes of the main crops are increased in Ukraine. Our team has a high level of flexibility in quality control and delivery efficiency, thereby giving the company advantages in the agricultural commodity sales markets”, says Volodymyr Slavinskyy, NIBULON's Deputy General Director on Trading. “This year we plan to increase the number of our export destinations, and in January, the company will ship food wheat to Algeria for the first time in its history. In addition, in future we plan to expand our cooperation with final consumers in Southeast Asia, particularly in China and Indonesia, as well as in Malaysia and the Philippines”.
